It’s been great to see the promotion of the recently launched Spitfire Lounge at Southampton Airport, along with its Glow-designed branding.
The pre-flight airport lounge at Southampton Airport has recently relaunched as the Spitfire Lounge. The new name links to the airport’s incredible aviation history with the first Spitfire prototype having taken off from Southampton Airport in 1936. Did you know that Spitfire aircraft were also designed, built and tested at the airport?
Glow was asked to design a new logo for the Spitfire Lounge and, included in the brief, was a request to be clear that the lounge serves visitors quality food and drink, while retaining a high quality and top-class feel.
The final logo design combines a contemporary wordmark with minimalistic icons to create a high-end look and feel. The same spitfire icon that has been used in the Glow-designed ‘Spirit of SOU’ logo has been used to create a subtle link between the two brands. A darker variation of the existing navy from Southampton Airport’s colour palette, along with a grey tone, are included in the the logo, for a luxurious aesthetic.
Spitfire Lounge
The lounge opens from 5.30am, 7 days a week. The Spitfire Lounge is a place to relax, indulge and unwind before your flight from Southampton Airport. The lounge offers:
- Quiet space away from the main departure lounge to relax
- Inclusive hot and cold food all-day
- A selection of wines, beers and spirits
- Charging points for personal electronic devices
- Enjoy free high-speed WiFi
- Comfy upholstered seating
- An upgraded experience to include a glass or bottle of Prosecco
Why Book the Lounge?
The lounge offers great value for money. You’ll get a whole host of otherwise costly things included. Like free snacks and drinks. If you think of the money you spend while you’re in the airport on a meal with drinks and then a coffee to pass the time, you’ll have spent more than the cost of entry into the lounge without even trying. Escape the hustle and bustle of the airport and put your feet up whilst catching the last of the country’s news before you fly off. Or, browse the web, watch some TV and well, just relax.
Did you know, kids under 5 go free, and children aged 6 to 11 get access to the lounge for only £12. What’s more they have a range of colouring materials to keep youngsters entertained.
