Business South Annual Conference 2024

What a superb Business South Annual Conference, held yesterday at the Utilita Bowl.

Informative, insightful, entertaining & packed with top dollar speakers.

We heard from Dr Nicola Millard – Principal Innovation Partner of BT, a futurologist who talked about trends shaping the future of work.

Did you know the optimal brain can only work for 4 hours a day. And as the world and processes become more complex we need to use these hours wisely. To back this theory up Microsoft carried out a study on human brains and after 4 hours, people’s brain virtually died! I can relate 😘.

Alison Barnes, CEO, New Forest National Park Authority introduced one of the latest exciting Action Groups, Sustainable South. Growth and the environment can and should work together.

We also had a fascinating presentation from Professor Dame Wendy Hall from Southampton University. AI is a key part of our team, here to make us even more brilliant; and it’s ok, it won’t take our jobs!

And the headline speaker, Pippa Crerar the Political Editor for The Guardian was brilliant. On point (😘) and hugely interesting.

As a NED of Business South, not only am I particularly proud – I know how hard the team work in curating these amazing events – but I’m also a big advocate for what Business South stands for, as the voice for our region.

Thank you 🙏to Business South, the speakers, the fabulous host, Lee Peck, and fellow Champions. Here’s to building the great the Central South!
