With the weather continuing to delight us and the UK’s glorious festival season well and truly under way, excitement is building at Glow for Wickham’s very own festival, 2nd to 5th August 2018.
We’re big fans of supporting the festival and local events and this year we’ve gone all out with a full-page advert in the events programme. It packs a punch with a cool and edgy design and certainly gets us in the mood for what looks like a great line up. And this year we’re in for a treat. John Illsley of Dire Straits will be performing some classic 1980s rock tracks. Also performing is the legendary Squeeze (remember ‘Cool For Cats’?!) and, one of my personal favourites, The Undertones – Teenage Kicks just has to be turned up loud! And if this isn’t enough, also visiting Wickham this is year is the rock icon and the original Cockney Rebel, Steve Harley. ‘Go on make me smile, come up and see me’. A gem.
Wickham Festival is rated by many as one of the safest, most relaxed and family-friendly festivals in the UK. And that’s not just us local biased lot, it was voted ‘Best UK Festival, cap under 15,000 at the Live UK Music Business Awards in October 2015. Wickham may be small – a lovely 13th century village – but the festival is no dinky. It’s a 4-day music and arts festival held in beautiful rural surroundings. There is live music on four stages plus late-night comedy, crafts and oodles of fun for the kids.
With this music feast to look forward, along with a two sporting loves: The Football World Cup (did you know England are going to win!!) and of course beautiful Wimbledon – I know there are others, so those too 😊 – it’s going to be a great festival season and summer.
So, see you at the festival. We’ll be in the deck chairs, bubbly in hand and singing the classics (out of tune).
