We wanted to share a rebrand project that’s close to our hearts, working with the Hampshire charity, Scarf.
Based in the New Forest, Scarf organises regular term–time clubs as well as holiday activities for children with special needs, and their families. The fantastic charity works with children/young people aged 0-25 years who have a range of disabilities and special needs, such as Down’s Syndrome, Autism and Cerebral Palsy.
Scarf approached Glow to help update its branding to appear more modern and appeal to the appropriate audiences. The original Scarf branding was corporate and a little dull and they were keen to create an approachable, modern and bright new brand.
Scarf is an acronym of their strapline ‘Supporting Children with Additional Needs, Relatives and Friends’. However, the team also suggested connotations of the scarf garment, surrounding and supporting children and their families. Glow, as always, provided two concept designs for the charity and presented ideas to the team.
The winning concept was a contemporary wordmark with a playful element. Combining the ‘r’ and ‘f’, we created a simplistic scarf design. We used a gradient to add depth and movement to the logo, suggesting connections, much like the relationships built at Scarf activities.
We also created the logo in a variety of colour options, in a bright and bold palette and both, single-colour and white versions to allow for different processes.
In addition to the brand we developed stationery, a tri-fold leaflet and tweaked the website to incorporate the new brand. We designed a scarf element that included imagery of the children attending the activities in the striped segment.
We absolutely loved working on the creation of this brand, as well as working with the Scarf team. You can read more about Scarf and the great work that they do on its website.
