In the studio this week, Seaside in the Square is back! With all this rain, we thought we’d share a little bit of sunshine.
Last year, we created a brand for the event that sees Southampton’s Guildhall Square transformed into a beach, complete with real sand and deck chairs. After last year’s success, the event is back for its second year and Glow is in the process of revamping some of the promotional materials!
You’ll be able to visit the ‘seaside’ between Friday 19th July and Sunday 11th of August 2019.
Described as an ‘urban beach’, you’ll be welcome to grab a rum cocktail, chill out on deck chairs and even play a spot of volleyball!
With three weeks of free activities, there’s something for everyone! For the active among you, there’ll be a chance to try out sports with free taster sessions courtesy of Decathlon and Rees Leisure.
If you prefer to sit back and relax, then why not take in one of City Eye’s film nights in the sand or enjoy a drink from the Orange Rooms pop-up bar, while listening to live music.
With a bright colour palette and a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, Seaside in the Square were keen for the posters to reflect a real summer vibe. This year we opted to use a collage of vectors and a custom illustration of the Guildhall to create a ‘festival’ feel.
Check out the gallery from last year’s event. The idea for the beach was developed with the aim of raising Southampton’s profile, increasing footfall into the city and to enhance the local sense of pride in the city, helping local people to enjoy their city centre in an innovative way.
