Towards the end of 2017, STR Group* – the holding company for six international micro-specialist staffing brands – approached Glow to design office branding for its Global and Group Operations offices, in Portsmouth. It was a wonderful project, full of creative scope, and we couldn’t wait to get started.

The offices, particularly the head office, is vast; largely open-planned with glass-panelled meeting rooms. Our brief was to create branding which was:

Bright, vibrant, aspirational, and calming
To create a nice environment; for STR staff to be proud of where they work
To inspire and motivate
To be different, bold – not cheesy or clichéd!

As with all of our branding projects, it was a full Glow team process. We researched the demographics, the vibe, style and brand personality, and from here created two concept themes: The first one focused on powerful actions and strong imagery to motive and the alternative theme homed in on line-drawn illustrations and STR’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) key sectors.

We loved both design themes (they wouldn’t get to the presentation stage if not) but, of course, it was STR who we wanted to wow …. and concept one was the chosen as the top trump!

Our Business Development Manager, Laura (who is just a little bit of a stickler for detail 😉) oversaw the project management of all aspects – ensuring precision in the measuring of over 15 walls, the vinyl specification, messaging, new messaging, new wall measurements, design & creative reviews, and managing timescales and deadlines. We had to get the artwork up before Christmas and there was only a one-week window! – plus full proofing to make sure we delivered to brief, and communication was clear throughout.

We really loved the process and working with STR; they are a great team and we are so fortunate to work on such a great branding project.
